People with disability are often overlooked when it comes to HIV/AIDS and other blood borne viruses education programmes. Yet paradoxically people with disability comprise a group which present as high risk for HIV/AIDS transmission. Reasons for the potentially high transmission are varied and include aspects such as the myth that people with disability are asexual, or couldn't internalise and adapt educative information. Sexuality Education, Counselling and Consultancy Agency (secca) supports the principle within the Commonwealth Disability Service Act which states all people with disability are entitled to information re: information allowing them to make informed decisions -this includes decisions about how to express one's sexuality consensually & safely. Since 1991 secca has been conducting HIV/AIDS education, counselling and consultancy services for individuals, their families, professional carers and significant others. This has been a unique programme for AUSTRALIA in terms of addressing the three taboos DISABILITY, SEXUALITY AND HIV/AIDS. This paper provides an overview of the strategies, processes employed over the past 8 years.
