In September 2001 LAFA launched a new website on the Internet, www.p-piller.nu. The site is directed towards young women and contains information about the female body and sexual organ, women's sexuality and contraceptives. www.p-piller.nu is part of LAFA's development work focusing on women's sexuality. The purpose of the website is to give facts and invite reflection, thus creating better conditions for women's sexual well-being and increasing their opportunities to protect themselves and their partners from unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections. At www.p-piller.nu visitors can read, among other things, about how women's sexuality has been viewed throughout history; about what is happening in a woman's body when she is sexually aroused and about all kinds of contraceptives. Illustrations and animations show the female sexual organ and the menstrual cycle. The site also contains a film from a gynaecological examination and lists telephone numbers of different clinics. Since it was launched on the Internet www.p-piller.nu has had about 8000 unique visitors every month. More than 100 women have contributed to the open debate on the site. These early statistics show that www.p-piller.nu supplies a long-felt demand. At present LAFA advertises the website in media directed towards young women, in order to further increase the number of visitors. The information on the site is continually updated and LAFA communicates with visitors through e-mail, the discussion forum and various competitions.
