OBJECTIVE: We have tried to evaluate a new serological technic in order to improve the urogenital mycoplasma diagnostic. Those mycoplasma are frequent hosts of human genital tract and their pathogenic role is determinant concerning some of gynecological infections. MATERIAL AND METHODS: In 148 consultants (69 women, 79 men) to STD service of Moroccan Pasteur Institute on the average of 31 years old, we investigated the presence of urogenital mycoplasma by two technics: The culture based on metabolism study on liquid medium. The serology based on inhibition by antibodies of metabolism on liquid medium. RESULTS: The correlation between the two tests is of 62%. The sensibility of the test is of 31%, the specificity is of 84% and the predictive values, positive and negative, are respectively of 49% and 69%. CONCLUSION: The results demonstrates that the serological technic is not very sensitive and have to be improved before being used. But the culture allow the precocious detection of mycoplasma to prevent the colonization of genital tract by mycoplasma in an ascendant way.
