AIDS education and its impact on people of Kanchanpur, Nepal.

Objective: To investigate the impact of AIDS on people of high risk behaviour and community people. Methods: In survey two hundred twenty five people of high risk behaviour like transportation workers (eg. drivers, ticketers etc), police, sexworkers and migrant labours (168 male & 67 female) has been followed since observation period. Both qualitative and quantitative data analysis was done. The finding from questionnaries of focus group discussion were compiled and simple matrix was developed to analyse the data. Result: From the study in project area it is realized that project area people are becoming aware about AIDS and STD's. It is found that about 53% and 31% of the respondents know about AIDS & STDs among general population. About 44% of the respondent know about Condom use to prevent AIDS. About 73% of general respondents know about the Condom and about 24% of sexworkers (male or female) know about STDs and 47% of sex workers know about the AIDS. Conclusion: From the findings it is concluded that informations about AIDS and STDs are reaching the communities but clear information about What is AIDS ? How it transmits? How can it be prevented are not clearly understood by community members.
