Issues: Most Ugandans in rural resource limited settings rely on herbal medicine. Unfortunately there has been uncertanity of which herb offers quick relief, to which symptom in a desparate situation like that of HIV/AIDS. Description: The paper shows and explains how the PLW/AIDS, botanists, berbalists, traditional healers, physicians and community of Bulamu (Health) Home care project undertook a participatory research on the 27 common herb species for the 9 AIDS signs/symptoms confirmed by modern physicians: diarrhoea, cough, fever, oral sores, skin rush, boils, herpes zoster, vomiting, odema and even diabetes. This writer was personally involved in getting plant samples, identifying common singly-used or combined "effective" medicinals, discussing plant characteristics, their availability, collecting and preparing methods, dose, advantages and disadvantages of a herb on a particular symptom. All data was shared by the community and documented. This is now used by traditional healers. Conclusion: Traditional healers using the local AIDS kit are a substitute to modern physicians for the improvement of PWAs' quality of life in treating AIDS signs and symptoms.
